Lowell D. Red DeRossett, 74 of Leesburg, Indiana passed away at 2:13 pm Saturday, January 23, 2016 in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. On May 12, 1941, he was born in Lancer, Kentucky to Henry and Lizzie (Herd) DeRossett. He was united in marriage to Cheryl Pollock in Warsaw on July of 1979, who survives. Lowell lived most of his life in Pierceton until moving to Leesburg. He served our country in the U.S. Army from 1959 – 1962. He worked as a CNC Machinist for Zimmer, Inc., where he retired in 1996. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church, Crossville, Tennessee and also American legion Post #258, Pierceton. He loved riding his Harley and playing music. Lowell is survived by his wife of thirty five years, Cheryl DeRossett, Leesburg; four children, Lesa Gray and her fiancé Christopher Bragan, Warsaw, Laura (and spouse Joe) Coonce, Seattle, Washington. Wendy Rantz and her companion Clarence Taylor, Mishawaka and Thomas DeRossett and his companion Morgan Chilafoe; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, David DeRossett, brother, Gene DeRossett, two sisters, Ruth Ousley and Ann Hughes. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday, January 28, 2016 in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw with military honors by American Legion Post #258, Pierceton. Visitation hours will be from 11:00 -1:00 pm Thursday, January 28, 2016 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton. Memorial contributions may be made in Lowell’s memory to The Lowell D. DeRossett Memorial Fund, C/o Cheryl DeRossett.
