Lorin ' Lum' L. Danner

Lorin “Lum” L. Danner, age 89, of Pierceton, Indiana passed away Wednesday November 21, 2012 at 12:46 AM at Select Specialty Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on September 17, 1923 in Wabash County to Lewis Edward and Goldie (McKee) Danner. He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County. He married Betty Symons on October 13, 1946 in Warsaw. He honorably served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Lorin was the owner, operator and mechanic of Danner’s Garage in Pierceton for 59 years. Lorin drove the Engine “The General” from coast to coast in the National Legion Parades for 20 years, also driving to the dedications of the World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War Memorials. The purpose of “The General” was to promote patriotism across our great country. Lorin is survived by his wife, Betty Danner of Pierceton; one son, Gale (and spouse Juanita) Danner of Warsaw; two daughters, Teresa (and spouse Ron) Conley and Susan (and spouse Michael) Stevens both of Pierceton; one sister, Dorothy Ritzenthaler of Bourbon, Indiana; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters. A funeral service is planned for Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton with Pastor Noel Reed officiating.Visitation will also be on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton with Military Honors by the American Legion Post 258, Pierceton
