Lonnie Prater, 68 of Pierceton, Indiana passed away at 5:30 pm Sunday, May 21, 2017 in his residence. On July 3, 1948, he was born in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to Alfred and Alice (England) Prater. He was united in marriage to Beth Gerard on June 30, 1973 in Kosciusko County, Indiana, who survives. Living most of his life in Kosciusko County, Lonnie served our country honorably in the U.S. Army from 1969 – 1971 as a Spec 4. He worked for Orthopedic Equipment Company, Warsaw until its closing, and then worked for Biomet, retiring in 2009. He is survived by his wife of forty three years, Beth Prater, Pierceton; three brothers, Ralph Prater, North Manchester, Bruce (Anita) Prater, North Liberty and Vern (Joyce) Prater, Warsaw; three sisters, Juanita Meadows, Servia, Flossie (Harvey) Anderson, Warsaw, Aileen (David) Lauster, Atwood and several nephews, nieces and extended family members. Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, May 25, 2017 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Chaplain Bob Jarboe officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton with military honors provided by American Legion Post #49, VFW Post #1126 and the Army Funeral Honor Guard. Visitation hours will be from 5:00 – 8:00 pm Wednesday, May 24, 2017 in the funeral chapel and also one hour prior to the service on Thursday, May 25, 2017. Memorial contributions may be made to Kosciusko County Hospice and Healthcare, P.O. Box #1196, Warsaw, Indiana 46581-1196 or to Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund C/o K21 Health Foundation, 23170 North Pointe Drive, Warsaw, Indiana 46582.
