Lon Slone, age 73, of Claypool, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at 11:30 PM in his residence. Lon was born on November 18, 1946 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to Lewis and Allie Slone. He was united in marriage to Edith Collins on October 5, 1965 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. They were married for 54 years. Lon has been a resident in Claypool, Indiana for 29 years. He worked as a Polisher for Zimmer-Biomet Orthopedics for 33 years, retiring in 2004. Lon enjoyed fishing, hunting, animals, hillbilly cooking and spending time with his family. He adored his grandchildren and was a big fan of country music singer George Jones. Lon is survived by wife, Edith (Collins) Slone of Claypool, IN; daughter, Sheila Hopkins of Warsaw, IN; siblings, Janice (Carlos) Hall of Warsaw, IN, Bill (Lois) Slone of Warsaw, IN; grandchildren, Brandon McCord of Warsaw, IN, Sheena Paseka of Claypool, IN, Kaitlin Clay of Winona Lake, IN. In addition, he is survived by great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Yvanna, Addison and future great-grandchild Liam. He was preceded in death by daughter, Pamela McCord; siblings, Arvil Slone, Henry Slone, Richard Slone, Sanford Slone, Lamon, Slone, Buck Slone, Lewis Slone Jr., Virginia Fenix and Susie Shepherd. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 -8:00 PM on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. His funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 21, 2020 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Pastor William Whitaker will be officiating the services. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
