Lois M. Showalter, 97, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at Mason Health Care Center in Warsaw.

Born on February 24, 1929 in Goshen, Indiana, Lois was one of three children born to Harold and Flossie (Cripe) Cary. She graduated from Goshen High School in 1947 and attended Ivy Tech College in Warsaw, taking computer classes.

In Goshen on June 26, 1948, Lois married Gerald E. Showalter. They welcomed two children and raised they in the Presbyterian faith, and shared 65 years of love, laughs and memories before his passing in 2014.

She was proud to work in sales for Dirilyte (Hand Industries) that was in Warsaw, selling golden hued/silver bronze dinner wear. Lois retired when the company closed in 1986.

Lois was feisty and stubborn, but loved unconditionally. She was a perfectionist and made sure everything had a place or plan. She loved doing yardwork and gardening. Lois enjoyed crafting, needlepoint, and sewing which included making her kid’s clothes. She spent many nights playing cards with her family and friends. The light of Lois’ life was her granddaughter and the arrival of her great-grandson.

Lois is survived by her children: Rodney (Cindy) Showalter of Indianapolis and Anne Showalter of Warsaw; granddaughter, Casey (Kevin) McIver of Mooresville, NC and great-grandson, Arthur Wayne McIver.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald; her parents; and her siblings, Joyce Neff and Wayne Cary, who was shot down during WWII serving in the Army Aire Corps.

Family graveside services will be held in the Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, where Lois and Gerald will be laid to rest together for eternity.
