LeVon “Peanuts” Heckaman, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida drew his last breath at 89 years of age, on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. He was born April 10, 1931, in Nappanee, Indiana to Robert Eugene and Gladys Strine Heckaman. Peanuts married the love of his life, Peggy A. Main Heckaman in 1951, in Long Beach, California. From this union four generations of loved ones bloomed, beginning with their three children. Peanuts lead a very full life, graduating high school, attending trade schools, serving bravely in the United States Army and building mobile homes, RV’s and travel trailers. He ended his employment career retiring from crafting prosthetics for DePuy in Warsaw, Indiana after years of faithful service. He was a proud Mason and a very longstanding member of the Moose Lodge. He was an active member of the American Legion of North Webster, Indiana Post 253. Peanuts and Peggy extended their hearts and homes in the care of countless foster children over the years; together they changed lives for the better. The love and admiration from those they touched is a great testament that will live on. His greatest enjoyment was watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren playing baseball and basketball. Peanuts is survived by his two daughters, Sue (Larry) Richey and Linda (Stan) Waumans; his son, Robert Heckaman, Sr.; grandchildren; Robert Heckaman, Jr., Chad (Val) Heckaman, Eric (CJ) Shipp, Brandi Waumans and Travis (Natalie) Waumans, as well as a host of other grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
