Leroy E. Axline

LeRoy E. Axline, 89 of North Webster, Indiana passed away at 335 PM Thursday, January 8, 2015 in Lakeland rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Milford. On June 3, 1925, he was born in Mechanicsville, Iowa to Vern and Helen (Clark) Axline. He was united in marriage to Norma Landis in 1947 in Thompsonville, Michigan, who survives. LeRoy work on the car ferries crossing Lake Michigan for seventeen years. After he was injured on the job, he spent time raising foster children. He was a member of Community of Christ Church, Michigan and Seafarers International Union. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Norma Axline, North Webster; two sons, Loyd Axline, Detroit, Michigan and Roy Axline, Goshen; two daughters, Diane Murray, Mason, Michigan and Theresa Phillers, Walkerton and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Virginia Axline and four brothers, William, Thomas, Robert and Richard Axline. A memorial service will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, January 17, 2015 in Bethel Baptist Church, Pierceton with Pastor Jim Baughman officiating. Burial will be in Thompsonville Cemetery, Thompsonville, Michigan at a later date.
