Lenora Ruth Stump, 90, of Warsaw, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Born on April 7, 1935, in Atwood, she was the beloved daughter of Emry and Violet (Barth) Murphy. Lenora graduated from Atwood High School in 1953.
Lenora would then serve her country, entering the Army in January of 1955. During her military assignment she worked at the Pentagon under Major Fromm. She was then awarded the opportunity to go to Heidelberg, Germany where she worked as a supply clerk. On November 13, 1956, she married fellow Army Soldier, Tom Woodard at the German Consulate. They would have three children: Thomas Woodard II, Sandy Hibbs, and Linda Weirick. After giving birth to their first child, she was discharged honorably from the Army on July 25, 1957. She remained in Germany until the spring of 1958. She would marry Robert (Bob) Stump in 1964. They shared the joy of family and friends and many memories until his passing in 1999.
Lenora was an active member of The American Legion since 1998, serving as the Auxiliary President for Post 258 in Pierceton. She then transferred to Post 49 in Warsaw holding many positions such as Legionnaire, Auxiliary member, Honor Guard and Commander of Post 49 Warsaw from 2005-2006. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1126 in Warsaw. She was also a lifetime member of the UFW Post 5582.
Not only did she serve her country, but she also served her community. She was a Girl Scout Leader, a 4-H Leader, and a Sunday School teacher. She also was a member of the Home Extension Club. What a blessing she was to all she served.
She is survived by her daughter Sandy Hibbs, grandsons; Jason, Ryan, and Kevin, granddaughter Becky, several great and great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Lenora was preceded in death by husband Bob Stump, son Thomas Woodard II, Linda Weirick, and granddaughter Jenny.
A visitation will be held to honor Lenora on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 11-1p.m. at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Larry Burkhart and Pastor Ken Locke officiating. Burial with Military Honors will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
