Larry Jay Brubaker, 76 of Warsaw, Indiana, passed away at 5:25 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2014 in his residence. On June 3, 1938, he was born in Rochester, Indiana to Luther and Bernice (Sherburn) Brubaker. He was united in marriage to Martha Jane Tucker on June 8, 1957 in Claypool, Indiana, who survives. Larry graduated from Laketon High School in 1956. He then served our country in the United States Air Force from 1956 1960 and then served in the Air Force Reserve for five years. Larry and Jane moved to Warsaw from Claypool in 1982. He worked as a pressman for R.R. Donnelley and Sons, Warsaw from 1960-1999 retiring in 1999 after 39 of service. After retirement, he was employed by Warsaw Community Schools for thirteen years as a bus driver for extracurricular sporting events. He was known by many as their Lucky Bus Driver and enjoyed all sporting events such as football, golf, basketball and tennis. He loved serving people. He was a member of Claypool United Methodist Church, where he was Sunday School Superintendent and taught for many years. In addition, he was a Harley Owners Group (HOG) member and was a life member of the American Motorcycle Association. He was an avid motorcyclist who began riding at an early age. He was particularly fond of Harley Davidson and rode to Alaska in 1985. Larry is survived by his wife of fifty seven years, Martha Jane Brubaker, Warsaw; his daughter, Lesa (and spouse Jim) Coplen, Fort Wayne; two sons, Matthew (and spouse Lori) Brubaker, Warsaw and Mark (and spouse Beverly) Brubaker, Claypool; two sisters, Rosemary Bolinger, North Manchester and Nellie (and spouse J.B.) Van Sickle, West Point, Indiana; his brother, Jerry Joe Brubaker, Lapuente, California; two sister-in-laws, Jeanne Tucker, Winona Lake and Elaine Tucker, Orlando, Florida; eleven grandchildren, Joel (and spouse Nikki) Brubaker, Aaron (and spouse Krystal) Brubaker, Nicole Sand, Paige Sand, Neil Sand, Brad Brubaker, Brandon McCombs, Brad Johnson, Mindy (and spouse Jacob) Brinkman, Jay (and spouse Anna Grace) Coplen and Jennifer Coplen and five great grandchildren, Abbie, Nash, Audie, Lux and Anna Belle. Larry was preceded in death by two brothers, Lee and J.B. Brubaker, his sister, Eileen Brubaker and his great grandson, Kinser Brubaker. Calling hours will be held from 10:00 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2014 with a Celebration of Life Service at 11:30 a.m. at the Claypool United Methodist Church. Military honors by the American Legion Post #49, and VFW Post #1126, Warsaw and the Military Funeral Honor Guard will immediately follow. Interment will be private in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool, IN. Pastor Mike Settles will officate the services. Memorial contributions may be made to Claypool United Methodist Church, 302 E.
