Lanny L. Ellis, 86, peacefully passed away with his family around his bedside at 8:28 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Paddock Springs in Warsaw.
Lanny was born on July 2, 1937 in Warsaw, Indiana to Loren Paul and Josephine M. (Linn) Ellis. He graduated from Warsaw High School with the class of 1955 and went on to graduate from I.U. Bloomington.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy until his Honorable Discharge in 1962. Lanny began working for Sprint in 1964 as a lineman and engineer and would retire in 1997.
Lanny took as his bride, Carol E. (Long) Frush, on October 27, 2006.
He was a caring, fun, loving, family man, but also a jokester. Lanny was skilled in woodworking and leather stamping. Golf was his passion and met up with his friends every morning at Breadings for coffee before heading for the morning tee-off. Carol and he were members of Warsaw Community Church where they served as greeters for several years. They also were volunteer delivery drivers of Mobile Meals and volunteered with the Red Cross.
Lanny is survived by his wife Carol Frush Ellis of Warsaw; his daughters, Stacey (Joe) Wong of Brownsburg, IN and Stephanie (Joe) Lemanski of Chula Vista, CA; step-children: Mike (Pam) Frush of Bloomfield, IN, Kathy (Tony) Perry of Warsaw and Jennifer (Scott) Hoeppner of Austin, TX; grandchildren: Matthew (Britney) Wong, Andrew (Rebecca) Wong, Luke Lemanski and Aaron Lemanski; step-grandchildren: Isaac (Michelle) Perry, Joel Perry, Chase Hoeppner and Maralee Frush; 5 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren; and nephew J. Alan (Becky) Bennett.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Connie Bennett; step-son Stephen Frush; step-great-grandson Austin Hoeppner; and nephew Mark Bennett.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 10-12 p.m. at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw. Funeral services will follow at noon with Pastor Jeff Pfeifer officiating.
Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw with Military Honors.
