Katherine Mary 'Kate' Burns, 89, of Warsaw, Indiana, died on 1/25/2011 at 11:50 pm at her residence. She was born on June 10, 1921 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Katherine Mary (Kate) Burns, 89, passed away on January 25, 2011, at home surrounded by her family who loved her dearly. She was born to the late Clyde and Elizabeth (Farley) Burrell. On January 31, 1942, she married John P. Jack Burns. They shared 62 years of marriage together. Kate was the anchor and loving matriarch of her family. Her strong faith was a beautiful example for them all. She prayed the Rosary daily and always had a card filled with the names of the people she was praying for by her side. To say that she loved her family is an understatement. Kate loved to cook and bake for them, and was most famous for her oatmeal cookies and carmel corn. She loved to sit and share stories about her life with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her faith and her family were the two most important treasures in her life. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and graduated from Central Catholic High School, and International Business College, Fort Wayne. She enjoyed many years as an administrative assistant in the athletic departments of DePauw University and Iowa Wesleyan College.
