Karen Jean Rogers, 69, Leesburg, died at 1:49 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. She was born July 23, 1942, in Kokomo, the daughter of Michael Joseph Vuchres and Estelle V. (Harrison) Summersett. On Feb. 2, 1961, she married William Bill Rogers I, who preceded her in death on Nov. 8, 2004. Karen was a 1961 graduate of Kokomo High School. She was a homemaker, and had also worked as a bank teller for 15 years at Lake City Bank, Warsaw. She was a former member of Indian Village Methodist Church in Cromwell. She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, cross stitching, shopping and time spent with her dog, Tommy. She was also the district and council PTA President in Alhambra, Calif. She was also an active baseball Team Mom and also drill team Team Mom. Karen was a loving mother and grandmother. Survivors include four children, William (Lupe) Rogers II, Covina, Calif., Jeffrey Rogers, Cave Junction, Ore., Michael (Naomi) Rogers, Cary, Ill., and Ann (Andre) McGriff, Las Vegas, Nev.; mother, Estelle Summersett, Milford; and grandchildren, Matthew Rogers, Emily Rogers, Cassandra Rogers, Rachel Rogers, Stephen Rogers, Eric McGriff, Elias McGriff and Alexandra McGriff. She was preceded in death by her father and husband. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 13, 2012 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Home, 105 First St., Pierceton, with Duane Ginder officiating. Burial will follow in Indian Village Cemetery, Cromwell. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, 5910 Homestead Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46814. Stout Son Funeral Home, Russiaville, is handling the arrangements.
