Joseph "Joe" Hemphling

August 24, 1943 — February 18, 2024

Joseph “Joe” Hemphling, 80, of Pierceton, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024 peacefully at home.


Joseph was born on August 24, 1943 in South Bend and was the son to Joseph and Emily (Price) Hemphling.


He served in the U.S. Navy, working in Washington DC with security clearance until his Honorable Discharge. He then worked as a chauffeur for a limo service in San Diego, CA.


Joseph loved traveling the world and loved the ocean and lakes. He was like a father to his nieces and nephews and loved them dearly. He enjoyed time spent with his sister Mary “Libby”, who lovingly took care of him until his passing.


Joseph will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Joanna Lehr of Glendale, AZ; sisters Mary “Libby” Anderson of Pierceton, IN and Janet (John) Dawson of Cincinnati, OH; nephews Jerry (Amy) Smith and David (Stacy) Smith a niece Christy Smith (Angela Brent) and 2 grandchildren of Glendale, AZ. He was preceded in passing by his parents and 2 great nieces and nephews, Mia and Ty Smith.


A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Sacred Heart 135 N Harrison St, Warsaw with Father David Langford officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
