Joseph Bannon Jr., 58 of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 6:50 am Tuesday, March 3, 2015 in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw. On September 16, 1956, he was born to Joseph and Darlene (Hoggatt) Bannon Sr., in Marion, Indiana. He was united in marriage to Susan Weaver on July 7, 1979 in Oceanside, California, who survives. A resident of Warsaw since 1993, Joseph worked as a truck driver for Metzger and Sons Trucking Company and also worked for Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. as a dog handler and military police. He always believed once a Marine, always a Marine “Semper Fi”. Joseph had a true passion for life and adventure. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed being a prankster. He was a big teddy bear who was a fun loving flirt. He had several nicknames, including “Daddy Go”. He had a boisterous laugh that everyone could hear. Joseph loved all of his daughters’ friends, treating them like they were his own kids. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, traveling, bowling, golfing and fishing. Joseph also was a big fan of NASCAR, especially Tony Stewart and also the Pittsburgh Steelers, especially The Iron Curtain of 1979. He is survived by his wife of thirty five years, Susan Bannon, Warsaw; two daughters, Carolyn (and spouse Shayne) Bannon-Smith, Oil City, Louisiana and Cassandra Bannon, Warsaw; his adopted son, Scott Howell, Lafontaine; five grandchildren, A.J., Dakota, Brayden, Logan and Autumn; four sisters, Teresa Helm, Warsaw, Tammy Holler, Hartsville, Tennessee, Clara Thomas, Hartsville, Tennessee and Debbie Taylor, Villa Rica, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 7, 2015 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Pastor Dan Cox officiating. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1196, Warsaw. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation hours will be from 4:00 – 8:00 pm Friday, March 6, 2015 in the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County, P.O. Box 1906, Warsaw, Indiana 46581-1906.
