John Wes Degenkolb Jr., 51 of Winona Lake, Indiana passed away at 6:30 pm Tuesday, April 29, 2014 in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. On April 11, 1963, he was born in Marion, Indiana to John W. and Betty (Kelley) Degenkolb Sr. He was united in marriage to Susan Sprinkle on February 22, 1996 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, who survives. John lived in Kokomo and Huntington before moving to Winona Lake in 2002. He graduated from Western High School, Russiaville in 1981. He then graduated from Indiana Tech with his Associate Degree in Engineering in 2009 and Bachelors Degree in Engineering in 2011. He was employed as a machinist and engineer for Medtronic Sofamor Danek Manufacturing, Warsaw. He attended Warsaw Community Church and loved to ride his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He was very involved in the Fat and Skinny Bicycle Club, Winona Lake. John is survived by his wife, Susan Degenkolb, Winona Lake; two sons, Eric W. (and fiancé Bethann Day) Degenkolb, Kokomo and David (and wife Amanda) Goad, Warsaw; two grandchildren, Vanessa and Jocelyna Goad both of Warsaw; his parents, John W. and Betty Degenkolb Sr., Kokomo; two brothers, Tim (and wife Kim) Degenkolb, Kokomo, Steve (and wife Diane) Degenkolb, Tipton and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeremiah Goad. A funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, May 3, 2014 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Pastor Jeff Pfeifer officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Visitation hours will be from 2:00 4:00 and 6:00 8:00 pm Friday, May 2, 2014 in the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to John W. Degenkolb Jr. Education Fund, C/o Susan Degenkolb.
