John S. Alexander

John S. Alexander, 89 of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 2:35 am Saturday, July 27, 2013 in Millers Merry Manor, Warsaw. On January 10, 1924, he was born in Wabash County Hospital to Myrl and Violet (Colbert) Alexander. He married E. Mazie Kile on October 22, 1949 in Warsaw, who survives. They were united in marriage by Reverend Owen Truman. John worked as a machinist for Weatherhead Inc., Columbia City and then he worked for the Kosciusko County Highway Dept., retiring in 1976. During his retired years, John enjoyed his yard and flowers. He loved nature and the outdoors and kept busy working outside. He was an avid hunter and trapper in his younger years and then later in life, he hunted deer and coyote, enjoyed his hunting dogs and loved fishing. John also enjoyed the wildlife, feeding the birds and squirrels. He attended Walnut Creek United Methodist Church, Warsaw regularly. He was a member of the Moose Lodge since 1971 and he gave aide to the children at the Mooseheart Home for many years. John was also survived by his step-son, Larry (and spouse Pam) Poyser, Warsaw; his brother, Tom Alexander, Milford; two granddaughters, Kelly Lynn Babb, Syracuse and Kristin Lane Brunning, Noblesville and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a baby sister and two brothers, Robert and Howard Alexander. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Ken Locke of the Salvation Army officiating. Forest Tabor of Walnut Creek United Methodist Church and Ross Kuester, Assistant Pastor of Walnut Creek United Methodist Church will assist in the service. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Visitation hours will be from 11:00 - 1:00 pm Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions are to be made to The Salvation Army, 501 Arthur Street, Warsaw, Indiana 46580 or Walnut Creek United Methodist Church, 2033 South 150 West, Warsaw, Indiana 46580.
