Joan E. Handis

Joan (Jo) E. Handis, age 79, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday May 27th 2012 at 04:50 am in the Mason Health Care, Warsaw. On September 24th, 1932 Joan was born to Daniel and Ruth (Doenges) Knepper in Fort Wayne, IN. She was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County since 1965 residing in Warsaw area. On July 5th, 1980 she married John M. Handis in Warsaw, he survives. Joan was an employee of the Gatke Corporation, Warsaw Airport, Sun Metal, retired from L.M. Berry “the yellow pages company”. Joan then worked at the local Super Wal-Mart for fifteen years in the paint department. Joan attended the Redeemer Lutheran Church here in Warsaw. Joan is survived by her husband John, and a daughter, Michelle Kennedy of Tucson, AZ.; sons Jerry (Pam) Koehlinger of Warsaw, Jim Koehlinger of Warsaw, and James Handis of Tucson, AZ. Joan is also survived by her sister Joy Valentine of Colorado Springs, CO, and her brother Daniel F. (Ann) Knepper of Warsaw, along with nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildern. Joan was preceded in death by her parents and first husband Ronald Koehlinger. Funeral services for Joan will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday May 31st 2012 at the McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Visitation will be on Thursday May 31st, 2012 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm prior to the funeral service at the Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Pastor Dennis Bollenbacher will be officiating the service. Burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw. Family has asked for memorials to be made out to the Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice, P.O. Box 1196, Warsaw, In 46581-1196.
