Janice Sue Black, 85, of Warsaw, Indiana, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
Janice was born October 18, 1937, in Union City, Indiana the daughter of William Russell and Neva (James) Koon. She was united in marriage to Gary Black on April 22, 1989 at the Church of God, Warsaw who preceded her in 2009.
She was a graduate with the class of 1953 at Madison Twp High School in Salamonia, IN. She enjoyed being a sales representative for Avon. She worked at Jane Heyde and retired from Grossnickle Eye Center in Warsaw. She was a faithful member of the Warsaw Church of God.
Janice was a very involved and active grandma and great grandma. Her calendar was always filled between church events and spending time with her family and friends. She was the most intentional card and letter sender and even though she never thought her words were enough, they were life giving to so many.
Janice will be lovingly remembered by sons, Mark (Kay) Poling and Steve (Shelly) Poling both of Warsaw; a brother Robert “Bob” Koon of Winchester, IN; grandchildren, Amie (Zach) Nelson, Amanda (Jason) Waddle, Mark B. (Amanda) Poling , Kara (Ben) Grubbs all of Warsaw and Brice (Stephanie) Poling of Plymouth. In addition, Janice is survived by 15 great grandchildren Reed, Grady, Darline & Waldo Nelson, Kanton, Claire, and Lyla Jane Waddle, Corbin Poling, Dylan & Tinley Grubbs, and Steven, Harrison, David, Kate and Jace Poling, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Gary Black, Janice was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Kay Poling and sister-in-law Carolyn Koon.
A visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday November 15, 2022 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, 2290 Provident Ct. Warsaw. Funeral services in celebration of Janice’s life will begin at 11:00 am on Wednesday November 16, 2022 in the funeral chapel with Pastor Tim Kumfer officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
