Janet M. Smith

Janet M. Smith, 79 of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 4:49 pm on Sunday, August 5, 2012 in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. On August 28, 1932, Janet was born to Edgar and Emma (Rollin) Ashby in Greenfield, Indiana. She married Harold “Hal” Smith on August 16, 1950 in Anderson, Indiana. He preceded her in death on June 14, 2007. A resident of Warsaw since 1950, she worked for JoMac Industries and then Sun Metal Corporation where she worked for 15 years, retiring in August of 1994. Janet was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She is survived by three children, Deborah “Deb” (Phil) Brown, Warsaw; Peg (Russ) Rainwater, Spring Hill, Kansas and Mike (Jan) Smith, Fort Wayne, one brother, Ted (Connie) Ashby, Alexandria, eight grandchildren, Kevin (Cindy) Brown, Katrina (Mike) Albertson, Korey (Sarah) Brown all of Warsaw; Tanya (Trent) Gordon, Wellsville, Kansas; Tara Smith, Jamie (Josh) Miller, Cassie and Chelsey Smith all of Fort Wayne and 10 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be at 10:00 am, Friday, August 10, 2012 in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw with Chaplain Doug West officiating. There are no visitation hours planned. The family requests memorial contributions to be made to The Shriners Hospital for Children, 2211 North Park Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60707-3392.
