Janet E. Shoemaker

Janet E. Shoemaker, 79, of South Whitley passed away in her residence on October 15, 2018 at 8:30 PM. On December 19, 1938 she was born in Whitley County to Lyman and Mildred (Tschauntz) Slater. On October 15, 1960 she was united in marriage to Joe E. Shoemaker who preceded her in death. A graduate of Sidney High School she was self-employed with Circle “S” Arabians and “A World of Horses” for 30 years. She loved raising horses, painting, knitting and crocheting. She is survived by her son; Howard (and spouse Kelly) Shoemaker of South Whitley and a daughter; Bambi Bennett of Louisville, Kentucky. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Nikole Callihan, Jessica Bertram, Jack Shoemaker, Claire Shoemaker and Grace Shoemaker, great-grandchildren; Nora Callihan and Keirsey Bertram. She is further survived by her sister; Sherry Boggs of Columbia City. She was preceded by her husband Joe, sons; Leslie and Jason along with her parents and siblings; Cozetta Slater and Larry Allen. A visitation will be held in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel in Pierceton on Thursday October 18, 2018 from 10:00 AM to Noon. A memorial service will follow at Noon on October 18, 2018 also in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel. Burial will be private at a later date.
