Janet B. Hyde, 84, passed away on March 23, 2025, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Janet was born on December 22, 1940, in Warsaw, Indiana to Edward and Freeda (Story) Geller.
On October 30, 1965, she was married to the love of her life and partner in crime, William M. “Bill” Hyde Sr., until his passing in 2016. Together, they shared 51 years together and raised five children.
Janet was proud of herself for going back to school and getting her GED through Warsaw High School and graduated in 1998. Enjoying healthcare and being selfless, she went on to become a Certified Medical Assistant. She would work for nursing homes in the area, before retiring from Miller’s Merry Manor.
Beyond her professional life, Janet found joy in spending time with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished fall fish fry’s, had cookouts all summer long and loved celebrating holidays and birthdays with those she adored the most. Janet was famous for her noodles and made an excellent peach cobbler. She also loved relaxing on the pontoon with her husband and boys fished, soaking in all the gifts she had been blessed with. She was a big Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. She never missed a WWE night, unless Heartland was on and an occasional rodeo. Janet was selfless and would give you anything you needed. Her smile was big and her heart even bigger.
Janet is survived by her children: William Nicholas (Janice) Hyde of Warsaw, William M. Jr. (Dawn) Hyde of Warsaw, Melvin (Kathy) Jordan of CA, Sue Thomas and Jeanette (Larry) Wood of Warsaw; 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; brother, Earl “Tim” (Carolyn) Geller of Indianapolis; and her bird, Pretty Bird.
Also surviving are her brother and sisters-in-law: Bruce Hyde of Warsaw, Esther Zimmerman of Warsaw, Jean Campbell of Warsaw and Becky Hyde of South Whitley.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband; her parents; her brothers, Raymond “Smiley” and Albert “Bud”; grandchildren, Kaleb and Megan; and very dear friend, Sue Walters.
Janet’s presence will be deeply missed by those who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to all who shared in her life.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
