Jane E. Smith, age 73, of Chapman Lake, Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 10:40 AM on Monday, August 4, 2014 in her residence. She was born June 6, 1941 in St. Louis, MO to Albert and Lillian (Fischer) Hampe. She graduated from the Woerner School in 1952 and Cleveland High School both in St. Louis MO. She attended Miami University, Oxford, OH graduating in the class of 1963 with a degree in Physical Education While attending Miami; she was member of Alpha Omicron Pi serving as Chapter President in 1961/1962. On June 22, 1963 she was united in marriage to Peter Smith and celebrated 51 years of marriage this past June. Jane was Director of Womens Physical Education at Oakwood High School, Dayton, OH in 1964/1965 and the served as Secretary in the Guidance Department from 1985-1990 and as Girls Varsity Tennis Coach from 1985 to 1990. Her memberships include the Junior League, a womens philanthropic organization, of Chicago, IL and Dayton, OH; member of the Womans Board of the Childrens Medical Center, Dayton, OH; member of the Board Of Directors of Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, IN; member of Tippecanoe Lake Country Club and Venice Golf and Tennis Club, Venice, FL where she pursued her love of tennis and golf. In addition, she was a member of St. Annes Episcopal Church, Warsaw, IN and Church of the Good Shepherd, Venice, FL. Her life was devoted to being a wonderful friend to many, as a sister, as a wife and mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband Pete of Warsaw; daughter Julie (husband Chad) Smith Cannon of Dayton; son Scott (wife Amy) Smith of Chicago, brother Richard (wife Heide) Hampe of St. Louis and five grandchildren Ben, Emily and Jack Cannon and Ella and Jackson Smith. Visitation hours are scheduled from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday, August 8, 2014 at St. Annes Episcopal Church, Warsaw, IN. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 10:30 AM with the Reverend Corinne Hodges as the Celebrant. Ennichment will be in St. Annes Columbarium. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions to St. Annes Episcopal Church, 424 W.
