Jane Ann Bower

Jane Ann Bower, 82 of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 8:02 am Tuesday, June 20, 2017 in Parkview Randallia Hospice, Fort Wayne, Indiana. On August 9, 1934, she was born in Wabash, Indiana to Arnold and Opal (Groninger) Schipper. She was united in marriage to Roger Bower on December 20, 1959 in Plymouth, Indiana, who survives. She was raised in Plymouth then moved to Warsaw fifty three years ago. Jane graduated from Ball State University, receiving a Masters’ Degree in Education and a Masters’ Degree in Remedial Reading. She was an elementary teacher for several schools including, Grand Rapids, Michigan; Hammond; Muncie and Warsaw, where she taught at Washington Elementary School and Lincoln Elementary School, retiring in 1994. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Warsaw, where she sang in the choir for seventeen years and also participated in vacation bible school. She was also a member of the book club, Wellness Center, Alpha Chi Omega Sorority at Ball State University and Tri Kappa Sorority. Jane is survived by her husband of fifty seven years, Roger Bower, Warsaw; her daughter, Beth (and spouse Karl) Keller, Valparaiso; son, Mark Bower Ph.D. and his wife Regina Bower M.D., Fort Collins, Colorado; four granddaughters, Abigail (and spouse Jordan) Garber, Indianapolis, Rachel Keller, Valparaiso, Brooke Bower, Fort Collins, Colorado, Daphne Bower, Fort Collins, Colorado and several nephews, nieces and extended family members. She is preceded in death by three sisters, Colleen Martin, Joan Schipper and Janice Schipper. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 24, 2017 in Redeemer Lutheran Church, Warsaw with Pastor Mike Mueller officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Visitation hours will be from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Friday, June 23, 2017 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
