Jan C. “Doc” Hiatt II, 66, peacefully passed away at his home on Thursday morning, October 5, 2023.
Doc was born in Wabash, Indiana on October 19, 1956 to Barbara J. (Rogers) and Jan C. Hiatt Sr. He graduated from Warsaw High School and went on to attend Lincoln Tech in Indianapolis and get a mechanical degree. Education was very important to Doc and he made sure throughout the years to continue taking various courses to learn new trends or changes in his field.
On April 24, 2014, Doc married Jean M. Roder on their beautiful property in Claypool.
He worked for Danco Medical for over 15 years, retiring as a maintenance supervisor. Doc owned We Be Fix It, specializing in engine repairs of any kind. He loved anything automotive, which lead him to racing sprint cars and go-karts. He enjoyed camping with family and friends and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warsaw.
He is dearly missed by his loving wife, Jean; his son Denny (Tonya) Hiatt of Mississippi and their 2 daughters; step-children: Brandon Ault, Whitney Hobbs, Jennifer Roder, James Roder, Aaron Gans and Ashley Gans; many step-grandchildren including his grandson Rylan whom he helped raise; his sisters Debbie (Robert) Petrone and Tammy (Ken Steele) Rogers as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Doc was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends are welcome to celebrate Doc and his life on Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. at
McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw.
