Jim Nichols passed away on April 5, 2020. He will be laid to rest in St. Annes Church columbarium on July 2 with a private ceremony. Military Honors will be rendered by American Legion Post#49 and VFW Post 1126 outside the church at 11:00 a.m. Friends of Jim are welcome to observe from the parking lot (424 W. Market St. Warsaw). Friends are also welcome to drop by the house in the afternoon to greet the family and raise a glass to Jim. James Richard Nichols, 74, of Warsaw, Indiana passed away Sunday, April 5, 2020 at 5:30 PM at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw of Covid 19 Virus. Jim was born in Norfolk, VA May 21, 1945 to Melvin and Dorothy Grice Nichols. The family settled in Gasport, NY. Jim graduated from RHCS Middleport NY in 1963. He enlisted in the US Army in 1965 and served 4 years in the Army Security Agency. On August 30, 1969 he married his partner for life, Pamela, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Middleport, NY. In 1979 he completed his Bachelors’ degree at Cedarville College in Ohio. The family moved to Winona Lake, IN and then to their beloved lake home in the Country Club neighborhood in 1987. Last summer they celebrated their 50th anniversary with their whole family in Olcott Beach, NY on Lake Ontario. Jim was delighted to share his Niagara Frontier home turf with his grandsons, Matthew and David. Jim retired from RR Donnelley in 2010 after 31 years of service. Jim loved living at the lake, watching the birds, the weather, and the moon. His favorite time of day was “the hour of the blue snow/water” at twilight. He enjoyed getting together with his good friends and solving the problems of the world, annual trips with Pam to the French Quarter in New Orleans, as well as reading voraciously and studying history. He is survived by his wife, Pam; sons Tyler (Christy) and Braden; and two grandsons. Surviving siblings are Donna, Steve, Joyce, and Janice. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date. All arrangements are entrusted to McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Memorials may be made to: St. Anne’s Church - 424 W.
