James L. Weirick, 87, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at Parkview Regional in Fort Wayne surrounded by his three favorite girls.
Jim was born on January 28, 1937 in Warsaw, Indiana to Charles and Latha (Mason) Weirick.
He served in the U.S Army Reserves from 1956-1964 as a gunman for the Battery A 393 Field Artillery Battalion. He was Honorably Discharged as a Sargeant.
On May 13, 1962 in Warsaw, Jim married Patsy Freeman and they would welcome their daughter, Jodi.
He worked as a buyer for Thornburg Drug Store for 26 years until his retirement in 1990. Jim would also work in maintenance for Explorer Van for 14 years until officially retiring in 2005.
He was a past member of the Moose Lodge in Warsaw and a member of the Warsaw American Legion Post #49.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Jodi (Thad) Thompson of Noblesville, IN; cherished granddaughters, Channing and Lachlyn Thompson; sisters, Carolyn Blake and Sandra (Rich) Hollingsworth, sisters-in-law Nancy Danusis and Lucille Weirick; many beloved nieces and nephews; and special friends: Mark (Kelly) Harkins and Tommy (Elaine) Long.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2009, two sisters, a brother, his companion, Carol Schrader, and faithful dogs Maggie and Angel.
A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 from 11-1 p.m. at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw.
Private family burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with Military Honors.
