James L. Sellers, 71 of Akron, Indiana and formerly of Hoffman Lake, Indiana, passed away on Monday July 1, 2013 at 1:25 p.m. at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester, Indiana. On July 2, 1941, he was born in Warsaw, Indiana to James and Janice (Shand) Sellers. James served in the U.S. Army from 1963 - 1969. He was a Staff Sergeant in the 701st Mountain Battalion 1st Infantry Division. He worked for Pierceton Trucking, Laketon for twenty years and then GS Trucking, Wabash, where he retired. After retiring, he then worked for Steve Wagner Farms. James was a former volunteer of the Atwood Fire Department and a member of Kosciusko County Fireman's Association. James is survived by three children, Deborah Baker, Silver Lake, Tona Walter, South Whitley and Rodney Sellers, Akron; two sisters, Patricia Craig, Warsaw and Myrtle Leota Dennis, Roanoke; five grandchildren, Justin, Joshua, Janessa, Teri and Marc; four great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Dillon, Jimmy and Delany. James was preceded in death by a great grandchild. A funeral service will be at 10:00 am Saturday, July 6, 2013 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Pastor Howard Immel officiating. Burial will be in the Legion Circle at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw with military honors provided by American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1196, Warsaw. Visitation hours will be from 4:00 - 7:00 pm Friday, July 5, 2013 at the funeral chapel.
