James D. Johnson, 67, of 3164 East 1000 North, Syracuse, Indiana, died on 7/1/2009 at 11:05 PM at Miller's Merry Manor, Syracuse, Indiana. He was born on September 24, 1941 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. James is the son of John T. and Ruby E. (Beaver) Johnson. Formerly of South Haven, Kansas, he moved to Syracuse, Indiana in 2006.He married Mary Whitt on March 4, 1983 in Floyd County, Kentucky.James worked as a Grinder for Kreonite Manufacturing in Wichita, Kansas and served in the U.S. Army from 1965 - 1967 as a Private First Class during the Vietnam Conflict.He is survived by his Wife; Mary Johnson, Syracuse,Indiana4 Step Daughters; Donna J. Tolson, Campton, KentuckyAvonda Sue Raber, Syracuse, IndianaBonnie Lou Endicott, Syracuse, IndianaRosemary Gilstrap, Dibble, Oklahoma2 Sisters; Gail Ronk, Wichita, KansasBarbara Matlock, Wichita, Kansas11 Step Grandchildren22 Step Great-Grandchildren5 Step Great-Great GrandchildrenJames is preceded in death by 2 Step Sons; 1 Step Daughter and 4 Brothers. Services will be held at Bixler Park, State Road 15 North, Warsaw, Indiana on Monday, July 6, 2009 at 10:00 am . Burial will be private. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, Indiana is in charge of arrangements. Military Honors by the American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1196 will take place at Bixler Park, on Center Lake, State Road 15 North, Warsaw, Indiana.
