James D. Childers

James D. Childers, 76, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday morning, September 10, 2026.

Born in Auxier, Kentucky on September 4, 1950, James was the only boy in a sea of 4 sisters, born to James and Myrtle (Goble) Childers. He graduated from Prestonsburg High School.

Shortly after graduating, James moved up to the Warsaw, Indiana area to work at the foundry for a short while, and then began his 46-year career at R. R. Donnelley as a binding operator.

On a night out on the town in Warsaw, James eyes fixed on a tall blonde, Judy Chappell, and instantly knew she was going to be his wife. The young couple married on November 22, 1972 in Kentucky, then returned back to Warsaw to start a family and grow their faith in Jesus. They would welcome three children and be blessed with 52 years of love, laughs and memories.

James was an awesome, caring and devoted dad. He was always working hard for his family to make sure they had all they ever needed. He was a loving caretaker for his wife when her health declined in her last few years. James was a laid back, loveable person with a great sense of humor, and loved embarrassing his children with Dad jokes.

He is survived by his children: Jerrod Childers of Warsaw and Jessica (Shane) Cameron of Fort Worth, TX; 4 grandchildren: Dylan (Hailey) Childers, Caleb Childers, Olivia Childers and Hadyn Cameron; great-grandson, McCoy Childers; sisters, Opal Hopkins and Yvonne (Frank) Hyden and numerous nieces and nephews.

James was welcomed into heaven by his wife, Judy who passed on April 11, 2025; his son, Jeremy Childers who passed in 2007; his parents; and his sisters, Nola Hopkins and Mary Crider.

Services are pending at this time.

Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
