James C Derry

James C. Derry, 79, of Warsaw (Chapman Lake), died Saturday December 31, 2022 at home.

Jim was born in Warsaw on December 20, 1943, the son of (the late) Harold & Mildred (Chapman) Derry. Jim (also known as “Jimbo” by family & friends) graduated from Warsaw High School with the Class of ’62 and on January 16, 1965 he married Nancy (Simmons) Derry. She preceded him in death on November 26, 2021 after 56 years of marriage.

Jim had retired from the family business, Derry Electric, Inc. and was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 802 and also served the National Elks Foundation. Jim was devoted to family & friends; he enjoyed model airplanes and could often be found in the garage, working on various projects.

He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Martz of Warsaw; sons, Michael Derry of Orlando FL and David (Terri Mitchell) Derry of Warsaw; his sister, Christy Matlock in Tennessee; grandchildren, Keylah (Marcas Sadler) Derry, Kelsay (Ben) Johnson, Kyal (Kylie Sponseller) Derry, Kolt (Alexa) Derry, Madison (Justin Coffman) Martz, Mackenzie Martz and Mason Martz, all of Warsaw and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to his mother & father and his wife Nancy, Jim was also preceded in death by a sister, Diane Grose and step-mother, Mary Derry.

A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be scheduled for a later date with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Arrangements through McHatton Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Ct.
