Mrs. Irma Shaffer Dorrough, the daughter of the late Curtis and Pauline (Clark) Shaffer, was born June 16, 1950 in Baird, Mississippi. She departed this life on October 18, 2011. Irma professed a hope in Christ at an early age in Clarksdale, Mississippi. She moved to Indianapolis in 1965 and graduated from George Washington High School in 1969. She graduated from Indianapolis Business College in 1971. Irma moved to Warsaw in 1975. She was united in matrimony to Sam Dorrough on April 5, 1975 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Indianapolis. From their union they were blessed with one son, Kevin Scott on May 29, 1977. At the time of her death Irma was employed at Zimmer Incorporated in Warsaw, in the Compensation and Benefits department, where she worked for over 35 years. Irma was an active member of Warsaw community. She was a devoted Christian and a faithful and dedicated member of the Warsaw Wesleyan Church where she served as the Secretary and Greeter. She also served on the Board of Directors for Indiana Lakes Federal Credit Union. Irma had many interests and enjoyed traveling, shopping for a great deal, spending time with friends and family, visiting her son in Chicago, and giving to others. Irma was a loving and devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and godmother. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Sam, and her only son Kevin (and spouse Kristine) Dorrough of Chicago, two living brothers Gayle (and spouse Marsha) Young and Ray (and spouse Brenda) Shaffer of Indianapolis, a special sister and cousin Betty Willis, sister-in-law Emma Dorrough of Muncie, sister-in-law Willa Dorrough of Indianapolis, god daughter Kristina Campbell of New York, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Irma was preceded in death by her parents Pauline and Curtis Shaffer, mama Willie Mae Smith, sisters Annie Watson, and Fannie Love, brothers Robert Shaffer, James Shaffer, and Joe Ledell. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 12:00 PM at Warsaw Wesleyan Church.Calling hours will be on Thursday, October 20, 2011 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM and 1 hour prior to the services all at the Warsaw Wesleyan Church 2402 Old U.S. 30 West Warsaw, IN. Pastor Gale Janofski will officiate the services. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw is entrusted with arrangements.
