Hugh L. Hutchens

Hugh L. Hutchens, age 74, of Pierceton, Indiana,  passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 3:54 a.m. in Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, Indiana. Hugh was born December 11, 1946 in Rushville, Indiana to Thomas F. and Clara Fay (Donoho) Hutchens.  He was united in marriage to Jearlean Shepherd in Wooster, Indiana on September 12, 1987. He was a resident of Kosciusko County since 1961. Hugh proudly served his country during the Vietnam conflict in the U.S. Army, receiving several military honors including, a Marksman National Defense Service Medal. He was employed with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Hugh is survived by his wife, Jearlean Hutchens; daughter, Pamela (Neal) Mallett; mother, Faye Wehrly; siblings, Brenda, Robert, and Lewis; grandchildren, Nick (Emily), Brad (Leann), Drew (Kelsey), Staci (Jason); and six great grandchildren. A visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2021 in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton with Pastor Steve Newkirk officiating the service. Due to current COVID-19 recommendations, masks are required.  The public is kindly requested to provide their own. Social distancing is strongly encouraged. No food is permitted at this time.
