Helen L. Shoemaker

Helen L. Shoemaker, 94 of Winona Lake, Indiana passed away at 4:30 am Tuesday, September 16, 2014 in Pierceton, Indiana. On March 21, 1920, she was born in Pierceton to Jacob Gail and Pearl (Vonblond) Wine. She was united in marriage to Everett L. Shoemaker in Winona Lake, Indiana on July 27, 1940. He preceded her in death on December 14, 2010. Helen was a homemaker and was also a member of Winona Lake Presbyterian Church, where she was a Deacon. She was a member of Home Ec Club 49’ers, Winona Lake and a senior member of the Literary Club. Helen graduated from Pierceton High School and attended Manchester College. Helen is survived by two daughters, Janet Hartman, Pierceton and Patricia (and spouse Allan) Koher, Huntington; three grandchildren, Kathy (and spouse Mike) Leckrone, North Manchester, Bryan Koher, Huntington, Kevin Hartman, Columbia City and four great grandchildren, Chloe Leckrone, Sophie Leckrone, Jared Hartman and Justin Hartman. She is also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister, one step-brother and one step-sister. A funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Good Shepherd Church, formerly known as First Presbyterian Church of Winona Lake with Pastor Rob Harrison and Pastor William Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton. Visitation hours will be from 3:00 – 8:00 pm on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Winona Lake Presbyterian Church, 100 8th Street, Winona Lake, Indiana 46590.
