Gwenlyn E. “Gwen” Carter, age 87, passed away at 6:15 PM on Thursday, February 15, 2018 in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. She was born on September 25, 1930 in Warsaw, IN to Lester and Beryl (Murphy) Young. Her Step-Father was Alfred “Flip” Phillips. She was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County. Gwen graduated from Warsaw High School in 1948. On August 16, 1953 she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Carter; whom preceded her in death in April of 1990. They were married for almost 37 years. She received a B.A. in Speech and Hearing Therapy from Ball State University and prior to that she attended Manchester College. She worked at many places throughout her life including; Lake City Bank for 5 years, First National Bank for 30 years, Dr. John Thomas ENT for 8 years, and also Buyer-Carter’s Department Store in Bluffton, IN. She and Bill loved antiques and owned Buggy Wheel Antiques for several years. Her social affiliations included AKO Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, Tri Kappa, and American Legion Auxiliary Post #49. She was a member of Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church and participated in the Cheeseball and Prayer Blanket ministries. In addition; she enjoyed playing euchre and bridge, and has had season tickets at the Wagon Wheel Theatre for over 20 years. She is survived by her Daughter; Linda (spouse Dave) Francis, Son; Kevin (spouse Angie) Carter, Grandchildren; Ryan (spouse Saagar Patel) Francis and Lindsay (partner Lisa Little) Francis, Casey and Cade Carter, and Cody Sunday, a Great Grandchild; Luna Sunday. Visitation is scheduled from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 in Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church, Warsaw. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 10:00 AM in Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church, Warsaw. Father Brian Grantz will officiate the Service. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw is entrusted with the arrangements.
