Grace Annabelle Mayer

Grace A.Mayer, Warsaw, Indiana passed away April 25, 2014 at Warsaw Meadows Care Center, Warsaw, IN after six weeks of residence. Grace, loving wife of Robert E. Mayer, was married to Bob for just over 60 years. Grace worked at the Warsaw YMCA for 15 years prior to retiring over three years ago. She played bridge several times each week with different groups in Warsaw and Plymouth, was an avid cook and baker, often baking over 100 dozen of many kinds of Christmas cookies each year. Other activities she enjoyed include crocheting, sewing, quilting, crafts, gardening, walking, traveling (they visited Spain, The Bahamas, took six Caribbean and one Alaskan cruise, as well as taking many driving trips throughout the USA) and she was an avid reader. They have two daughters, Linda G. (husband Robert) Maher (Athens, Ohio) and Vicki D. (husband Joel) Casarrubias (Round Lake, Illinois). They have eight grandchildren Matthew, Rory, and Marilyn Maher and Rachel Domingo, Marc (wife Kyle Annen), Lisa (husband Paul Brockelhurst ), Amy ( husband Matt) Hans and Tracy (husband Jordan) King plus four great grandchildren. Her parents, John W. Pugh and Mabel (Lonas) Pugh preceded her in death as did her older sister Marjorie Watson. A brother Paul (and wife Karen) Pugh live in Dowagiac, MI. Grace was born on December 10, 1932 and raised in Athens County in SE Ohio. After marrying Bob Mayer December 16, 1953, they resided in seven different states but have lived in Warsaw for nearly 35 years. There will be no services. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 210 S. High Street, Saturday May 3 from 1-3 pm. A similar visitation will be conducted in her hometown of Athens, Ohio at a time and place which will be announced later. Instead of flowers, donations in Grace's name to either the Alzheimer's Association, 6324 Constitution Drive, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804 and/or The Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fund, C/o K21 Foundation, 2170 North Pointe Drive, Warsaw, Indiana 46582 are suggested.
