Gerald Willard Yoder

Gerald Willard Yoder, 82, of Warsaw, Indiana died at home in the presence of his loving wife and daughters after a brief illness.

Jerry was born and raised in Midland, Michigan. After high school he left Midland for Anderson, Indiana where he attended college and met Carolyn (Edwards); they married on August 17, 1963. Together Jerry and Carolyn shared 62 wonderful years full of adventures that took them from Indiana to Kentucky, Camrose Alberta Canada, Reseda California and Warsaw Indiana.

Jerry started out as a schoolteacher, then felt God’s calling to ministry. Jerry and Carolyn started their ministry as bi-vocational home missionaries in Pine Crest Kentucky and then entered full-time ministry in Canada. At the center of Jerry’s ministry was his love for people. He truly believed what Jesus taught, that all people are important and should be treated with respect and care. To know Jerry was to love him!

Husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, cousin – these are terms of endearment and some of Jerry’s favorite titles. Jerry loves his family and his family loves him! He met every member of the family where they are and always wanted to know what each person was interested in, but more importantly wanted to know who they really are. He left his mark of love, acceptance and pride on every member of the family. He had so much wisdom to share in a quiet, mild, unassuming manner.

Jerry was preceded in death by a son, Jeremy Edward Yoder, his parents and brothers.

His legacy includes his wife Carolyn (Edwards) Yoder, daughter’s Wendy (Scott) Fridley, Suzanne Yoder, Jeannette Steinig (German daughter/sister); nine grandchildren, Casey (Kim) McGuire, Aaron (Rachel) McGuire, Austin (Sarah Guffy) Fridley, Sydney Chang, Corrie (Colten) Sewell, Jeremy (Rachel) Chang, Joshua (Haley) Ellis, Mason (Alaina) Fridley and Madison Fridley; nine great grandchildren Allyson (Shawn) Powell, Rorey and RJ Powell, Mia McGuire, Michael Fridley, Ezra and Kai Gutierrez, and Finn and Rocco Sewell; and three great- great grandchildren Delaynee, Denver and Dodger Powell.

Visitation for Gerald will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM, with services following at 3:00 PM at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, with Pastor Mary Ann Randolph officiating.
