Gayle T. Dickey, 77, passed away in her home on Sunday, March 31, 2024.
Gayle was born on December 21, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois to Walter and Georgina (Mercier) Galla. She grew up in Chicago and attended Holy Rosary Catholic Grade School and graduated from Mercy Catholic High School with the class of 1944.
She would move to Warsaw, Indiana in 1968, where her children would grow up. They attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Gayle worked for Sasso Veterinary Hospital, Da Lite Screen and then for Dexter Axle as a planner and buyer until her retirement in 2009. She always felt blessed to have a career in a company that cared, and she could say she loved her job. She was always satisfied going home each night, knowing she accomplished something. Gayle found joy in helping people and being there, when they needed her.
On September 28, 2006, Gayle married Clarence G. Dickey, whom survives. They planned for their retirement and tried to enjoy every moment or adventure they could.
Gayle was a very social lady and loved times at the Moose Lodge with her friends and was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Warsaw. Gayle was a racquetball champion, softball champion and the 2001 Rozella Women’s Golf Champion. She loved listening to Desperado and was fond of all her pets: Sargent, Colonel, Bogie, Kee Kee, Bubba, Lucy and Whisper. She adored being with her grandchildren. Her family and friends were her life and she cherished all the fond memories and accomplishments she made in her life. Gayle loved flowers, especially yellow roses, and could often be found in her vegetable garden, baking a delicious treat or putting her heart into a meal she was cooking.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence of Warsaw, and daughter, Wendy (Don) King of Warsaw; step-children, Todd Dickey and Lisa Ebbinghouse; grandchildren: Jensine Stroh, Hunter and Hannah Metzger; step-grandchildren: Rachelle Dickey and Hannah Ebbinghouse; and great-grandson Michael Stroh.
Gayle was preceded in death by her son Michael Stroh, her parents and her brothers, Walter “Wally” and George “Buddy” Galla.
