Gary L. Harmon

April 23, 1944 — October 19, 2020

Gary L. “Chirp” Harmon, age 76, of Warsaw, Indiana, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2020 at 6:28 AM in his residence. Gary was born April 23, 1944 in Floyd County, Kentucky to Leonard and Birdie J. (Dotson) Harmon. He was united in marriage to Ruth Ousley on May 17, 1963 in Warsaw, Indiana. Gary was a graduate of Mentone High School in 1962. He lived in the Warsaw area most of his life. Gary’s wife, children and grandchildren have been blessed with the opportunity to keep Gary in his home of 50 years with familiar faces and the 24-7 love and care of family along with dogs Donovan and Relo. An avid Cincinnati Reds fan for many years, his family made sure that the games were on whenever possible. He made it to Cincinnati to cheer them on every year until his condition made the trip to see his beloved Reds no longer possible. Chirp also enjoyed country and gospel music. Chirp worked his entire adult life until retirement at RR Donnelley.  He coached his daughters fast pitch softball teams along with his wife of 57 years for many years while he and his wife both played slow pitch too.  He and his wife enjoyed doing so many things together, traveling to Nascar races, visiting family, and just traveling to Arizona or Florida to relax.  Gary enjoyed watching his grandson’s play travel high school soccer and never missed a college soccer game, or his granddaughter’s travel and high school volleyball games and did not miss many of her college volleyball games even after his first stroke.  He was determined to be there for his family. Gary is survived by wife Ruth Harmon, Warsaw; daughters, Christi (Brent) Price, Terri (Chris) Hubner, both of Warsaw; grandchildren, Ryan Marshall Price, Lake Harmon Price and Chloe Christine Hubner; great-grandchildren, Addison, Callie, and Jett Price. In addition, he is survived by one brother, Larry Harmon, Warsaw, and one sister, Karen Kerby, Lawrenceville, GA and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 23, 2020 at the Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jamy Gregory officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. * Due to current COVID-19 recommendations, masks are required.  The public is kindly requested to provide their own.
