Gary Himes

Gary Himes, 68, of Winona Lake, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024.

Gary was born on August 18, 1956 in Warsaw to Vernon “Bing” and Flora Jean (Prater) Himes

Gary proudly served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves from 1981-1987 as a mechanic on the Autonomous Systems KC135 Stratotanker, Aerial Refueling Tanker, out of Peru, Indiana on Grissom Air Force Base.

He worked for Sprint Logistics (Warsaw), part-time for Jellystone Park (Pierceton), and served as a volunteer on Winona Lake Fire Department. Gary enjoyed life and spending time with his family and Jellystone friends.

Gary will be lovingly remembered by his sons Dru (Kaeli) Himes, Nick Himes, and Derek Himes, daughter Abi Himes, brothers Terry (Susan) Himes and Tony (Chris) Himes, 11 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren, as far as they know, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in passing by both parents.

A visitation with family and friends will be from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, September 15, 2024 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels, 2290 Provident Ct. Warsaw.

Burial will be private in Oakwood Cemetery where Gary will be placed on his parents’ grave.

The family requests any memorial donations be made to the family, a local volunteer fire department, or Hospice of your choice.
