Frederick “Fred” L. Homburg, 80, of Winona Lake, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 25, 2026, with his wife and children at his side.
He was born on July 23,1945, in Logansport, IN, to Ernest and Lucille (Olds) Homburg. He graduated from Logansport High School in 1963 and continued his education, graduating from Manchester College in 1967 and then earning his Master’s Degree in Mathematics from Purdue University. On March 19, 1967, he married Jeannine Swartz. He taught math at Mentone from 1967-1970, and then at Warsaw High School from 1970-1997, where he retired.
He attended Warsaw Community Church. He enjoyed going to garage sales and auctions, accumulating many tools. He would then hold his own garage sales to sell the items he had bought. When he moved into Grace Village, he became an artist and enjoyed Wii bowling and working on word search puzzles. Even while at Grace, he continued to take an active interest in the lives of his children and grandchildren.
Fred is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jeannine, a daughter Karla (Peter) Kroll of Warsaw, a son Kurt (Jennifer) Homburg of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, grandchildren Katherine and Matthew Homburg, and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials in Fred’s honor may be made to Clinton Township Volunteer Fire Department, 4507 W 325 S Logansport, IN 46947 and ArtCare at Grace Village, 337 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake, IN 46590.
A graveside service at Shideler Cemetery near Logansport will be held at a later date.
