Frances “Jane” Kinney, age 94, returned to God and her Savior on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 5:30 AM. She was born in Peru, Indiana on May 8, 1924 to Vernon and Josephine (Troutman) Smith. Before her second birthday, Jane and her family moved to Warsaw, Indiana, where she lived the rest of her life. Jane graduated from Warsaw High School in 1942 and married Edgar Kinney on December 13, 1942. Jane worked as a cashier at Owens grocery store in downtown Warsaw for many years. Later, she worked at, and eventually retired from, Sears in Warsaw. However, Jane’s true vocation was being a world-class homemaker. She loved her family and her home, and she treasured the family heirlooms that adorned her life. She was also a gifted seamstress and craftswoman, creating handspun and knitted sweaters and counted cross-stitched masterpieces that are treasured by her family. Jane was also a life-long member of First Christian Church, where she proudly attended as the church’s longest active member. Jane was baptized in 1937 when she was 13 years old, and attended Sunday and midweek worship regularly the remainder of her life. Many of the church’s current “older” members and leaders most likely were cared for by Jane as she loved tending the babies in the church’s nursery. Jane is survived by her three children and their spouses, Steve (Tasha) Kinney of Pierceton, Barbara (Steve) Beavers, of Eloy, Arizona, and Paul (Dee) Kinney, of Littleton, Colorado. Jane is also survived by six grandchildren, Heather Truex of Warsaw, Megihann Leininger of Mentone, Rebecca Spitler of Mentone, Travis Kinney of Castle Rock, Colorado, Gari Ratliff of Pierceton, and Zachary Kinney of Littleton, Colorado, along with nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Jane was preceded in death by both her parents, two brothers, an infant son, Douglas, two great grandchildren, and her beloved husband of nearly 57 years, Edgar. Please join Jane’s family, Pastor Gary Boschain and Pastor Lee Bracey for a time of sharing memories and celebrating her life. Visitation will be Sunday, October 14, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., and services will be Monday, October 15, at 10:00 a.m. at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, Indiana. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, gifts in Jane’s memory be directed to the Danny Pitzer Scholarship Fund at First Christian Church, 115 Park Ridge Drive, Warsaw, IN 46580.
