Floyd Raymond Hyden Jr., 57, of Pierceton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 31st, 2025, at his home in Warsaw, Indiana.
Floyd was born on September 2, 1967, to Floyd Raymond Sr. and Barbara (Maynard) Hyden in Columbia City, Indiana.
In 1986, he graduated from Whitko High School. He then entered the military to serve his country. He joined the United States Navy. He also served as a United States Army Reserve with continued excellence. He served in Desert Storm with great pride alongside his command and fellow service men. He received many medals of honor including, but not limited to, two bronze stars, a good conduct medal, a sea service deployment medal, a national defense service medal, a southwest Asia service medal, as well as many others. He was discharged as a disabled veteran from his services in 1992.
In 2014, he married his beautiful bride Nicole, sharing many adventures together since.
Floyd was extremely passionate about computers and was a driven, hardworking Information Technologist. He was skillful in all aspects of IT work. If you had a question or problem with computers, just ask him, and he would be honored to solve and explain the problems and give a solution.
One of his favorite times of the year was football season. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan, cheering loudly for them to win. Notre Dame football was in his veins as well, rarely missing the Irish take the field.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandpa, son, and brother. He enjoyed family get togethers and laughing and enjoying all the children. Floyd was especially fond of playing with and making memories with his many grandchildren. He had quite the collection of Hawaiian shirts, filled with lots of color, like his personality, always carrying a big bright smile to welcome anyone and everyone. When he wanted to just relax, and be in the solitude of nature, he would enjoy trying to catch the biggest fish, with which bringing back many fishing stories to be enjoyed by all.
Floyd is survived by his loving wife, Nicole; his brothers and sisters; Barb (Ian) Stellar of Warsaw, Elesta Hyden of Pierceton, Chris (Deb) Hyden of Ireland, Mary (Stacy) Slusher of Pierceton, Donna (Brian) Schaefer of Fort Wayne, and Richard Rorick of New Haven; children, Jasmine Hyden of Warsaw, Mathew Hyden of Pierceton, Riley Hyden, Ben Hyden, Devin (Toni) Young, Skylur (Steven) Schorey, all of Fort Wayne, as well as his grandchildren; Nico, Maverick, Walker, Lincoln T., Lincoln C., Eli, and Gayge.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents.
Floyd will be deeply missed, but his passion for life and memories shared among family and friends will continue to honor his memory.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel Warsaw, Indiana. Services will follow with Pastor Kelly Young officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
The family ask in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels to help with expenses.
The family would also ask that after services you join them for a carry-in meal (bringing your favorite dish) and celebrate Floyd at Pike Lake.
