Florence L. Miller

Florence L. Miller, age 92, of Leesburg, IN formally of Pierceton, IN, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 7:12 AM at Whitley-Parkview Hospital, Columbia City, IN. She was born October 26, 1918 in Woodburn, IN, to Oscar and Bertha (Spencer) Slusher. In 1937 she married Howard Elder who passed away in 1957. She married Max Miller in 1959, who survives. She was a residence of Leesburg and Pierceton. She has spent winters in Florida since 1985.Florence retired from Weatherhead (Dana), Columbia City, IN after 20 years.She was a life member of the Pierceton American Legion Post 258 Auxiliary (for 49 years). She was a past president and secretary. She was an auxiliary member of the VFW Post 1126 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 1339, both Warsaw. She is survived by her husband, Max Miller of Leesburg, 4 sons, Dan (and spouse Jan) Elder of Pierceton; Jim (and spouse Ruth) Elder of Warsaw; Max (and spouse Violet) Elder of Pierceton and Glen (and spouse Sandra) Elder of Mentone. 1 daughter Carol (and spouse Kent) Bragg of Morristown, TN. 3 sisters Vivian Blue of Nappanee, Zelda Heintzelman of Larwill and Joy Kyle of Goshen, IN. 1 brother Irvan Slusher of Greenwood, IN. also surviving are 24 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 35 great - great grandchildren. 4 brothers, 4 sisters, 1 grandchild and 1 great - great grandchild, preceded her in death Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 14, 2011 at 12:30 PM at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton. Visitation will on Thursday, October 13, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton.Chaplain Bob Herman will officiate the service.Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw The family request that the memorial contribution be made to donors Choice.
