Eugene “Mike” Engel

Eugene “Mike” Engel,  83, of Claypool, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 5:00 a.m. in his residence. Born on April 6, 1938, in Warsaw, Indiana, Mike was the son of Walter and Charlene (Inman) Engel. He was united in marriage to Carol L. Smith on December 30, 1967, in Warsaw, Indiana. He was a graduate of Warsaw High School in 1956. He proudly served in the National Guards for 2 years. Mike formerly was the maintenance supervisor for 30 years at the Bowen Center, Warsaw, retiring in 2015. He enjoyed activities that included camping with his family at Jellystone Park, the Warsaw Speedway, coaching the Warsaw Little League and Girls Softball. He was inducted into the Warsaw Bowling Hall of Fame. Mike is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol Engel of Claypool; children, Michelle Engel and Cheri Engel both of Warsaw; stepchildren, C. Dean Bayne of Ft. Myers, FL and Douglas Bayne of Bluffton; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. No services are planned. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw have been entrusted with arrangements for the family.
