Eugene C. Brown

Eugene C. Brown, 86 of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 1:30 pm Monday, July 7, 2014 in Kosciusko Community Hospital. On January 31, 1928, he was born in Warsaw, Indiana to Everett and Myrtle (Lynch) Brown. In 1952, he was united in marriage to Irene Franchitto in Boston, Massachusetts. She preceded in death on October 27, 1998. A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Eugene served our country honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II as a PFC with the 8th Army in the Asiatic Pacific Theater from 1946 - 1947. He began work for the Warsaw Police Department in 1957, serving for twenty two years and retiring as Captain in 1979. He also held the rank of Detective Sergeant and Detective Lieutenant then Captain. He was a probation officer for eighteen years, retiring as Chief Probation Officer. He also worked for the Kosciusko County Sheriff Department as a transport driver from 1997 - 2000. Eugene was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw; the Elks Club and the Fraternal Order of Police. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post #49, Warsaw. He is survived by three sons, Ed Brown, Warsaw, Joe Brown, Goshen and Louis “Bill” Brown, Demotte; his daughter, Christine Slone, Warsaw; his sister, Mary Neff, Payne, Ohio, twelve grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, one grandson and two sisters. A funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Friday, July 11, 2014 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Reverend Roy Blake officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw with military honors by American Legion Post #49, VFW Post #1126, Warsaw and Military Funeral Honor Guard. A visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday, July 10, 2014 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A Rosary will be at 7:30 pm Thursday evening in the funeral chapel.
