Ester M. Long

Ester M. Long, age 88, Gas City, IN passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 11:48 AM in her residence. She was born January 3, 1926 in Warsaw, IN to William A. and Linney Leoda (Sell) Shand. A former Warsaw, IN and Fort Myers, FL resident she has resided in Gas City since 2002. She was united in marriage to Russell Long April 20, 1946 in Warsaw, IN. She was a1945 graduate of Ravenscroft Beauty School, Ft. Wayne. She was a lifelong Cosmetologist and formerly was the owner of the Golden Girl Salon, Warsaw. She was a former member of the First United Methodist and Walnut Creek United Methodist Church both of Warsaw. Other memberships include the National Hairdresser’s Association, Warsaw Square Dance Club, County Home Extension (Ft. Myers, FL), Fort Myers Sewing Guild and was a Registered Instructor of the All Japan Bunka Embroidery Association. Survivors include daughters Linda (spouse Dennis) Johnson of Gas City, IN and Pat (spouse Robert) Craig of Warsaw, IN, a son Larry (spouse Diana) Long of Warsaw, IN, a twin brother Lester Shand of Burnettsville, IN, 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren plus several nieces and nephews. Her husband Russell preceded her on October 19, 2009. Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday May 9, 2014 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday May 10, 2014 in the Funeral Chapel with Pastor Doug Davies officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
