Edward R. “Ed” Likens

Edward R. “Ed” Likens, age 84, of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 2:30 PM Sunday, February 18, 2018 in his residence. He was born June 1, 1933 in North Webster, IN to Cyril “Bus” and Myrtle (Beezley) Likens. Ed was united in marriage to Patricia Johnson in Bluefield W.Va. on August 15, 1959. He was a North Webster High School graduate and graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington with a business degree. In addition, he was a 1987 graduate from the University of Wisconsin Graduate School of Banking in Madison, WI. He faithfully served his Country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict and served as Signalman (Morse Code Operator) with the 511th ACW Squadron both stateside and abroad from 1952 to 1956. Ed was the co-owner of Likens Tax Service and Service Liquors. Most notably he was known as Banking Professional serving the community with Counting House Bank, Pierceton State Bank and First National Bank from 1956 to 1997. His social affiliations include the Warsaw Masonic Lodge, Ft. Wayne Valley Scottish Rite, Mizpah Shrine, Kosciusko County Shrine Club, American Legion Post #49, VFW Post #1126, Warsaw Elks and Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church. Also, he previously served as a Board Member of CASA and the Homer Shoop Foundation. Ed was an avid coin collector and golfer. He once scored a hole-in-one at Rozella Ford Golf Course. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Fort Myers beach, FL. He was “elected” Honorary Mayor of Pierceton, IN in 1988 and was inducted into the Warsaw Bowling Association Hall of Fame January 29, 1994. Survivors include his wife; Pat Likens, son; William “Willie” (spouse Jolynn) Likens, daughters; Christy Singrey and Cathy (companion Mike Howell) Carter all of Warsaw, a brother; Robert (spouse Dixie) Likens of North Webster, and a sister; Frances Bowser of North Webster, sister-in-law’s; Sharon Smyth of Daytona, FL and Sonja (spouse Chris) Reid of Conroe, TX. Grandchildren include; Casey Carter and Cade Carter of Warsaw, Kelli Singrey of Stockholm, Sweden and Connor Singrey of Manhattan, NY. Furthermore, several nieces and nephews survive. Visitation hours are scheduled from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, Warsaw. His Funeral Mass will be conducted Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 10:00 AM in the Church with Father Brian Grantz officiating. Entombment will be in the St. Anne’s Columbarium.
