Edith D. Newby, 85 of Indianapolis and formerly of Warsaw passed away at 7:41 pm on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 in Hooverwood, The Indianapolis Jewish Home, surrounded by her loving family. On January 9, 1931, she was born in Warsaw, Indiana to Donald and Violet (Boon) Lynch. She was united in marriage to Raymond Newby in 1960 in Warsaw. He preceded her in death in 1970. Edith was a lifetime resident of Warsaw. She retired from Zimmer, Inc. in 1997 after nineteen years of service. She also was a member of First United Methodist Church, Warsaw. She is survived by three daughters, Donna (spouse Rodney) Jordan, Indianapolis, Melody (spouse Thomas) Sands, Indianapolis and Pam (spouse Mark) Hartman, Lafayette; three step daughters, Bev Hay, Warsaw, Carol (spouse Ron) Wood, Warsaw and Phyllis (spouse Dennis) Rash, Bluffton; nine grandchildren, eight step grandchildren, one great grandchild and several step great grandchildren. Edith was preceded in death by her daughter, Laura L. Newby, her sister, Nancy Sue Johnson, her step son, Larry Joe Newby and her brother, Donald Lynch. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 14, 2016 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Chaplain Bob Jarboe of Kosciusko Homecare and Hospice officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Visitation hours will be from 11:00 – 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 14, 2016 in the funeral chapel.  Memorial contributions may be made in Edith’s name to Hooverwood, The Indianapolis Jewish Home C-Wing, 7001 Hoover Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46260, where she received loving and excellent care. The family would like to give a special thank you to her special caregiver, Angie.
