Earl T. Records, 87, of Portland, Indiana, died on 9/4/2010 at 12:06 pm at Jay County Hospital, Portland, Indiana. He was born on July 18, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan . He was born to William P. and Edith (Crossman) Records. On June 18, 1977, he married Nina Hall, who survives. He graduated from Proviso Township High School in Maywood, Illinois in 1941. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1941 1945. He was an Aviation Radioman 2nd Class serving in the American Theater, European African Area and Asiatic Pacific Area. He served on CVE Carrier Core and CVE Carrier Guadalcanal. While serving on Guadalcanal, they captured U505 German uboat which resides at the Museum of Science and Industry. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Commendation Medal, Victory Medal and Combat Air Crewman Wings. He then earned a bachelor of mechanical engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York and did graduate studies at the University of Michigan. After working at Alcoa, he had a 40 year career at White Metal Rolling and Stamping Company in Warsaw, Indiana, serving as Chief Engineer and Plant Manager. He was one of the owners of the company when he retired in 1988. He was one of the founders of United way of Kosciusko County and a member of First United Methodist Church of Warsaw, Kiwanis Club, Tuesday Morning Breakfast Club at Bob Evans and American Legion Post #49, Warsaw. He is survived by 1 son, Doug (and wife Bonnie) Hall, Atlanta, Georgia and 3 daughters, Pam (and husband Pat) Bennett, Portland, Indiana; Carol (and husband John) Wallace, Salem, Massachusetts and Sally (and husband Keith) Might, Indianapolis, Indiana. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Kelly (and husband Adam) Staples, Fishers, Indiana; Brad (and wife Nora) Bennett, Hull, Georgia; Kate Wallace, Chicago, Illinois; Sam, Jacob and Caleb Might, Indianapolis, Indiana and Alexis and Spencer Hall, Atlanta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his son, Jay Records. Services will be held at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, Indiana on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 11:00 am with Pastor Tim Dilley officiating.. Calling hours will be 5:00 - 8:00pm at the funeral chapel on Thursday, September 9, 2010. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, Indiana.
