E. Mazie Alexander

E. Mazie Alexander, 98 of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 11:44 pm Tuesday, March 28, 2017 in Grace Village Healthcare Center, Winona Lake, Indiana. On August 21, 1918, she was born in Kosciusko County, Indiana to James A. and Cora E. (Reed) Kile. She was united in marriage to John S. Alexander on October 22, 1949 in Warsaw, Indiana. He preceded her in death on July 27, 2013. A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Mazie worked as County Recorder for Kosciusko County for eight years. She also traveled for the State of Indiana U.S.D.A. for school systems for eight years and eight months. Mazie was a member of Walnut Creek United Methodist Church, Warsaw and Broadway Christian Church in Noble County, Indiana. She also belonged to the American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126 Auxiliaries. Mazie was President of the Republican Women’s Group of Kosciusko County and corresponding Secretary for the State of Indiana’s Recorders Association. Mazie belonged to Moose Women’s Auxiliary, since 1971, where she would travel to aide Mooseheart children. Mazie formed the Women’s Salvation Army Auxiliary in Kosciusko County. In 2008, the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary held a luncheon at Rodeheaver Music Auditorium, Winona Lake, where the Salvation Army State Officer from Indianapolis presented Mazie with an award of achievement, which is the highest award that can be received for the women’s auxiliary. On March 17, 2013, Walnut Creek United Methodist Church held Mazie Alexander Day along with Kids Peanut Butter Day for the Salvation Army. At the Inception of the Auxiliary, the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary made a video of Mazie, which they had her fill in all of the events that happened. Mazie also received the Heart of Gold Award from the Kosciusko County Foundation 1998 – 2013. Mazie is survived by her son, Larry (and spouse Pam) Poyser, Warsaw; two granddaughters, Kelly Lyn Babb, Syracuse and Kristin Lane Brunning, Noblesville and seven great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John L. Kile and Glen J. Kile. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday, April 1, 2017 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw with Ken Locke officiating and the Eulogy will be given by Bill Bufton. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Visitation hours will be from 12:00 noon – 1:30 pm Saturday, April 1, 2017 in the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be to the Salvation Army, 501 East Arthur Street, Warsaw, Indiana 46580 or to Walnut Creek United Methodist Church, 2033 South 150 West, Warsaw, Indiana 46580.
